Hello,
This is major off topic and located in the right place for off topic posts.
One thing I\'ve never done that I always wanted to in SL since 2005 was play music live in-world. I\'ve not had the time to accomplish it, and I don\'t know much about how to get a good sound into SL or OS to be honest, but I\'ve always wanted to try, and believe I have the right interfacing to accomplish it.
My system is simple, it\'s a decent professional setup that would be PA hooked up via a Mackie onyx 1640 into a self built machine via firewire on GNU/Linux. I have installed and tested for recording purposes the firewire and it does fine per track etc.. and recording. It does super as a 16 channel input to the machine on Linux. I guess my questions is how to get it out live as played through the PA to OpenSim? I don\'t have my own server at the moment (on the web), so what would be needed to stream into the test grid? Does it require a streaming software as you would stream your waves such as icecast?
I know very little of how this works. I\'ve ran an icecast server before and had my own songs recorded streamed, but I am not at all sure I understand how live streaming is done in-world.
I would like to try this as a test on the photo50 test grid if that\'s okay, and of course as time allows. If anyone knows how live performances are setup, if you know the needed hardware and configs, please let me know your secrets for live performance within opensim or sl.
Thanks
