Email confirmation

3 weeks 4 days ago #3717 by tgarcia05
Hello,

when an user complete the registration he get an email from Joomla.

I want to add the opensim Firstname and Lastname in this email.

Do you know a way to do that ?

Thank you for your help.
Thomas.

Welcome back Thomas

... and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!! :)

I have investigated this in the past already and it took me a while to grab that out again ;)

The short (sure a little unsatisfactory) answer: sorry, currently I see no way to add these fields into system emails sent from Joomla, except to touch the core code of it. This is imho an absolute "nogo" since this would get lost every time you update Joomla.

The longer (and hopefully more liked) answer: my tests with Joomla 3.x did not bring any light into this, but working since quite a while already on jOpenSim for Joomla4 and testing there (the reason for my delayed response) could finally give first very promising results.

In other words, jOpenSim 0.4.x will most probably get another new plugin that can handle what u asked for ... I just can not promise if this is already part of the first release of it, since it is already short before a possible ReleaseCandidate ;)

I whish you an happy new year too !

Thank you so much for your answer, and for the plugin.

I'll do the migration to joomla 4 when the Jopensim plugin will be ready for that.

Thomas.

This might be a little "offtopic" in this thread, but I'ld just like to mention:

Joomla4 is sure a milestone: a lot of improved features and much easier handling! I really like most of these changes. But before migrating to Joomla4 you also should be sure that all your other extensions are ready for it.

For example Kunena (the forum extension in use here) has a Joomla4 compatible version already, but certain plugins of it still cause the forum ending up in a "white page" :(

Also many templates still seem to have issues with it even when pretending to be J4 compatible.

Because of this, jOpenSim 0.4.x is developed with the default template Cassiopeia of J4.
